The man can bat and what a brilliantly enthused celebration when he reach his ton. He starts the second day unbeaten on 104. It was Kevin Pietersen’s day, there’s no doubt about that. I can understand the South African’s annoyance though, with the very minor technicality of him technically being South African and all.

Excellent, England v South Africa. A proper test for our boys with the added spice of Kevin Pietersen and Graeme Smith’s obvious dislike for each other.
Although they are both as South African as each other, it’s clear that they couldn’t have co-existed in any side, let alone a South African side one that was ruled by racial quotas. Pietersen’s Three Lions tattoos mean nothing to me. His test and ODI numbers included, so what? The man can bat and as far as I’m concerned if he wants to play for England, he’s more than welcome.

It’s excellent to see Freddie Flintoff back in a England kit. I just hope that England don’t rush him, but it’ll be good to see him in the second test if he’s fit. I’ll be watching the cricket in the pub in Cyprus then, with the added advantage that it’ll start at a reasonable hour as it’s a few hours ahead. Win.
